Brampton Brewery Chesterfield “Spire 10”


Sunday 7th July 2019 Start 9:30am


Venue - Holmebrook Valley Park, Newbold, Chesterfield S41 8XP. There are showers, changing facilities and car parking all in one place approximately 2½ miles from the Chesterfield Town Centre.


Directions - From the town centre follow Newbold Road (B6051) towards Barlow. Do not turn off until you see the sign for Holmebrook Valley Park or the race marshals on the corner of Water Meadow Lane.


Changing - shower facilities are situated in the Pavilion, close to the car park. Baggage can be stored in a secure area at your own risk whilst the race is in progress. NDRC accepts no responsibility for any losses which may occur, please do not leave any valuables.


Race Number – To be collected on the day & pinned securely to the front of your top & worn as supplied without being mutilated or folded in any way to reduce its area. It must be clearly visible when running into the finish. In case of emergency 'please write your name, indicate any medical conditions or allergies and add a contact name and telephone number' on the back of your race number.


Enquiries and late entries - A race information desk will be available to answer any questions. Results will be available via the club website and also at as soon as possible after the race. There will be a late entries desk (£15 club runners, £17 unattached) however, these will not be taken after 9-15am.


The Course - The one lap, anti-clockwise route will be marshaled and policed. The course goes along country roads with blind bends. Always run on the left-hand side unless directed otherwise by police or marshals and do not cut bends. It is mostly uphill to 3 miles then goes flat and downhill to the finish with a short uphill at 8½ miles. Please take care when crossing road junctions. There will be traffic on certain parts of the route so beware of inconsiderate motorists and we would politely request that runners do not wear head phones, if you ignore this advice it is at your own risk and if you cause an incident you may not be covered by our race insurance. The course is unsuitable for wheelchair athletes and no dogs are allowed. Medical facilities will be provided by first aiders. Drinks stations will be located at approximately 3½ miles, 6 miles, 8½ miles and at the finish.


Prizes - To first 3 men/women plus veteran prizes for first over 40, over 50 and over 60 man/woman. All prizes are Derby Runner vouchers. Bottle of Brampton Brewery Spire 10 Beer plus commemorative t-shirt to all finishers of the Spire 10.


Race Charity - This year’s supported charity is Weston Park Cancer Charity who help to improve the lives of people living with cancer. Weston Park Hospital is the region’s only specialist cancer hospital, providing care for thousands of patients across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire.  North Derbyshire RC make a donation to the charity for each race entry received.


Unit 1 Family Fun Run - Start is approximately 9.15am which is 15 minutes prior to the main race. The 2 lap, clockwise route is fully within the boundaries of the park and within sight of the car parks. There will be marshals around the course. The start is from the top car park, on your left as you enter the park, please be ready in plenty of time as the 10.15am start time is approximate. All Fun Run finishers receive a medal. Entries for the Fun Run will be taken on the day until 10.10am; entry fee is £3. Race positions will be recorded but it may not be possible to record all finishing times although we will endeavour to do so. All entry fees from the fun run go to Weston Park
